The Burning Monk Canvas
The Vietnamese Buddhist monk Thich Quang Duc burned himself alive on the streets of Saigon on June 11, 1963, and it sparked a chain reaction that changed history forever.
Protesting the persecution of Buddhists by the South Vietnamese government he was attempting to show that to fight all forms of oppression on equal terms, Buddhism too, needed to have its martyrs.
